On July 25th, athletes of all ages and abilities converged on Lakeside Park, Cottage Grove Lake, Oregon for the annual ‘Tri at the Grove’ duathlon and triathlon events. Infinity Rehab sponsored several teams of therapists for the competition. Congrats to all participants and it sounds like you each had a fun and eventful time!

The ability for a therapy team to work together is essential for an enjoyable, efficient, and functional rehabilitation department. Thanks to opportunities such as the one presented by the Cottage Grove triathlon and made possible through a generous donation by Infinity Rehab, therapy teams from both Avamere Rehabilitation of Eugene and Avamere Riverpark of Eugene were able to compete and build camaraderie through swimming, biking, and running.
With Paul and Marybeth Shoemaker, as well as Karen Parker, swimming, the race began with a mile swim. Out of the water, it was Sam Parker, Suzanne Benorden, and Christy that took to a 23 mile bike ride. Finally, the race was completed by Eloise Cole, Kim O’Grady, and Eric Schumm running a 10 k to the finish. All the while, friends and fans cheered the teams on.
The victorious team, made up of Marybeth, Suzanne, and Kim, was even able to stand on the podium as overall winners for their age group. Afterwards, the group was able to relax and recover with grilled food and refreshments. This was an enjoyable opportunity for members of the therapy teams in the Eugene area to get together, learn more about each other, and come closer as a team.
