Sneak Peek at Symposium 2019

Symposium 2019

2019 marks Infinity Rehab’s 20th anniversary! And we “can’t stop the feeling” this year. Celebrate with us at one exciting event, Symposium 2019.

This year’s event is full of courses to help you grow your leadership skills, clinical skills, and more. Here are a few of the courses offered this year.

Leadership Skills for the Front-Line Employee

Everyone is a leader at Infinity Rehab. Leadership isn’t about a title or formal position. It’s about the interactions you have with your teams and with your patients. Leadership is a way of life.

This course introduces the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership, Infinity’s chosen leadership model by Kouzes and Pozner.

You will learn:

  • How to recognize leadership opportunities
  • How to gain insight into your own perspectives about leadership
  • How to use your insights to impact patient care practices

Speakers include:

  • Lynn Janssen, CCC-SLP, Area Rehab Director, Midwest region
  • Robin Albers, CCC-SLP, Area Rehab Director, WA5 region
  • Sarah Donelson, CCC-SLP, Area Rehab Director, independent contracts in the Oregon region

This course lasts two sessions. You must register for both to attend.

When Modified Diets & Patient Goals Don’t Agree

Sometimes the safest practice recommendations clash with the patient’s goals. There’s a fine line between the two, and if a patient doesn’t fully understand the consequences of their actions, they could put themselves at risk for healthcare complications.

Find out how to start a conversation about patient goals and move their care forward.

You will learn:

  • How to find out a patient’s wants
  • How to identify when a patient’s goals don’t match medical recommendations
  • How to educate and answer questions about what could happen if the patient chooses to follow medical recommendations vs. their own wants

Christina Kemper, MD, will lead this session.

Freedom with Framework

How do you assess a patient’s prognosis? This course will answer this question with case examples to illustrate thinking beyond a single episode of care.

You will learn:

  • How to select an appropriate set of evidence-based and patient-tailored interventions
  • How to determine a treatment schedule that ensures sufficient dosage of evidence-based interventions
  • How to describe prognosis for improvement based on patient characteristics

Speakers include:

  • Sarah Townsend-Grant, PT, Clinical Knowledge Broker
  • Patty Scheets, PT, DPT, MSH, NCS, Director of Quality and Clinical Outcomes
